High school students joined a tour to cashmere factories
Sustainable Cashmere Platform of UNDP in Mongolia in collaboration with the Wool and Cashmere Council of the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Department of Light Industry Technology and Engineering Studies of the Mongolian University of Science and Technology jointly organized a tour to cashmere factories for the high school students.
B.Aminaa, a student who joined the tour, said, "It was very interesting for me to participate in this tour during my winter vacation. Seeing how big the cashmere factories are and how many people work there, I felt proud of those people. It was an eye-opening experience to see how many steps it takes and how many people make inputs to make a cashmere sweater, starting from the raw material until it becomes ready to wear sweater. I felt a sense of respect for the people working in the factory."
R.Badmaanyamnuu, Lecturer at the Mongolian University of Science and Technology, who led the tour said, “One of the major problems facing the Mongolian wool and cashmere industry is the lack of engineering and technology specialists of the sector. In that sense, this tour was a good opportunity to introduce the operations of cashmere factories to young generation.”
Total of 45 students of 11th and 12th grade from school No.2, No.23, No.24 and Shine Mongol, Orchlon participated in the tour and visited the cashmere factories of Gobi JSI, Khanbogd Cashmere LLC.
